What a wonderful way to share a hot summer evening at the Manchester firehouse. After a brief slideshow on the properties of wool that make needle felting possible, The Art Quilters St. Louis (AQSTL) mini-group got busy creating our 2D and 3D works of art.
Each artist transformed either the white wool fabric or wool ball they were given using a variety of wool roving colors. The roving was attached to the wool by punching barbed needles in and out of the wool surfaces.
After over an hour of rhythmic punching, we laid out our creations for the big reveal. Wow! I may have been the teacher this month, but I learned a lot seeing how each artist used the materials.
