Joyce Franklin – Owner of Piecework’s Quilt Shop in Winterset IA will do the meeting program in August “out of the box” and an Improv arches/oval workshop on August 26th, 2026.
Oh, my Ovals Improv Arches using a gentle curve to create a wonderful scrappy quilt of arches.
They are free -form cutting, adding no seam allowance, piecing, pressing, trimming and forming into blocks. 2’s or 4’s.

Sewing machine with neutral thread
Rotary equipment
Iron and pad if you have a small one
Bring scraps, some quarter yard cuts, some fat quarters, a few neutrals (I always include a few black, dark grays), but mostly just fabrics you love, ones that make you smile.
At least 10-14 fabrics.
Bring a chunk of batting 30″x36” and a 1-yard backing and your walking foot, just in case you get to the quilting stage.
